Spring is Just Around the Corner
By Pam Gilbert, Seattle Section President

Winter really came in like a lion this year, and I’m sure most of us are ready for it to leave as rapidly. It’s certainly made getting around the northwest difficult and has probably put your daily drivers to use instead of your shiny Mercedes. Check out the article that John DeYoung has written relating to de-icing and the importance of having your car washed. The good news is that Spring will soon arrive.

Get ready we will have our next event, “The April Showers Rally” on March 28th, sponsored by John and Diane DeYoung which if it’s anything like their other events, you don’t want to miss out on the fun.

On Saturday, April 4, we will have our first technical event this year at Mercedes-Benz of Lynnwood, sponsored by Linda and Ian Gleadle. Get your free 27-point inspection on the lift and anyone who signs up for service will receive a 15% discount, so don’t miss out, come and join us.

Since we haven’t had a wine event for a couple of years, we decided it was time again to explore some of our great Washington wineries. The Walla Walla Wine Weekend will be June 12 – 14th, sponsored by Patti and Rick Tuttle. They have planned a weekend to include fine dining, wine pairing w/chocolate, and a poker run.

For our Annual Charity this year, the Seattle Section has decided to focus on helping as many people as we can by sponsoring a major food drive rather than donating to a single charity. Linda Gleadle has written an article that will explain our new direction and tell you how you will be able to participate throughout the year.

We are always looking for volunteers to help with our events, or to serve on the Board of Directors. So, if you would like to get involved with planning or helping us, please let me know. Our goal is to try to offer something for everyone, so if there is an event that you think would be fun for the membership, let us hear from you.

As promised, we have a lot of different events planned this year for all Enthusiasts from technical, to driving, to rallies, to autocross, and a wine weekend. So shine up your Mercedes, and get ready to “hit the road” with us. Hope to see you along the way, and remember to drive safely.
